School zones and mornings can be stressful! Parents, guardians, and other adults have a million things going on in the morning - from getting kids to school to making it to work on time, from responding to emails from their bosses to making sure the perfect song is playing on the way to work. While we all have these distractions, letting them affect our driving can make it harder for kids to make it to school safely. Whether kids are walking, biking, or rolling to school, or just crossing the street from a parent's car, Billings students deserve our full and undivided attention in school zones and around the walking, biking, and rolling routes to school.

In fall 2026, the City of Billings is rolling out the Go Slow • Be Safe • Be Kind campaign. The campaign messaging is based on focus groups with stakeholders, including parents/guardians, school staff, and children, as well as a survey of more than 1,000 community members that asked what could make getting to school safer for Billings students. The campaign reminds adults and students alike that they can make the trip to and from school safer by going slow, practicing safe behaviors, and reminding us that being kind can not only make someone's day, but can also make the community safer.

The campaign is rolling out with three Public Service Announcement (PSA) videos and targeted activities with a select number of schools for the pilot year! Check out the videos below and remember to go slow, be safe, and be kind!
